7.12.08 -Aimee + John = Trash the Dress
Aimee and John are super fun, excited about life and so in love with each other! They absolutely light up any room they enter… and this is true weather they are together or apart. Aimee and John met at my sweet alma mater CSULB. Their love for each other started over a healthy appetite of water polo games, surfing sets and snowboarding adventures. I was so honored to shoot a Trash the Dress session with them! The super sweet and talented Nicole DeAnne did Aimee’s hair and make-up oh so beautiful.
Here are a few of the fabulous shots.

My Favorite shot of the day

John had this great photo op idea for their up coming Christmas cards

Thank you Aimee and John for such a fun-tastic session!! I am so excited to have you two as friends. May the love between you two grow deeper and stronger with each passing year of your marriage!

7.7.08 Last empty wall + photo project = our house is finally finished!
So it finally happened… the last empty wall in out house has been decorated. And boy not a minute to soon, since we’ve been on the lease for a year now! I feel so refreshed and like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders now that our humble abode is all prettized. So last week I set up the tri pod and shot a personal sequence of the Husband and me. Framed them all in mod black frames and hung them horizontal. For web purposes I’ll do a vertical montage of the photos.
Without further a due…

We’re kinda cute, no!?!

6.21.08 Alanna + Jared = Married!
So let me first start off by saying… Wow has it been crazy busy. The plus side, so many awesome sessions to post about. The downside, days just keep flying by. To my faithful bloggers: Thanks for giving me the love! I can’t tell you how blessed I feel. And so sorry to make you wait.
Now to the sweet and adorable Alanna and Jared! I had the honor of shooting with the very talented Melissa Slater at the dreamy Rancho Capistrano where the beautiful Bride and Groom proclaimed their love to each other. The day started off warm with a sweet breeze and just keep getting better and better with each hour. Much like Alanna and Jared themselves! These two love birds met in High School Youth group at their fun-static Mariners Church. You could say their meeting was foretelling as Alanna and Jared are currently leaders actively involved with High School ministries. (So near and dear to my heart.) Their love for the youth encompassed every story and accolade. So much so that they had their entire small group as junior attendants!! And to top it off they’re big baseball fans. The night ended with trading cards and an ice-cream sandwich cake!

My favorite shot of the day!

The first look!

It was great to watch Melissa in action as she set up the formals photos.

My favorite shot of the Husband and Wife

Love my details!

Thank you so much Alanna and Jared for such a magical night. Many blessings in your marriage for years to come!

5.30.08 -Dan + Sarann = Engaged!
I am so excited to be capturing this awesomely fun couples big day! We started off with snapping the engagement photos of Dan and Sarann in oh so fun Pasadena. Which in the not to distant future will be the first home town of the soon to be Olsons! Meeting on the University of Vanguard campus, Sarann recalls the first time she saw Dan, “I just knew he was the one!” I’ve known Dan since college and to see the love he has for Sarann just make me grin ear to ear. Their excitement and love for each other was so evident in the laughter and playfulness between them.
Have I mentioned how adorable they are?

Breaking out in some dance time…

So much love between these two!

My favorite shot of the day!

Thank you Sarann and Dan for such a fantaboulous day! I am so excited for your upcoming summer wedding!!!

05.15.08 -The Stiles girls gift to Daddy
My good friend Tami called and told me about this special gift she wanted to put together for her husband Greg’s up coming birthday. When I heard Birthday, my ears totally perked up. Now for those of you who don’t know I am crazy obsessed with birthdays! I just can’t get enough of them. And Tami wanted to put together a sweet collage of her and their three totally adorable girls Alicia, Katie and Emma. I couldn’t say YES fast enough!
The four of us girls headed over to one spunky and colorful park for a day of photo tag and sing songs. The wind was blowing and moving us all along. The whole time Alicia and Katie were singing together. Just too cute! To capture the love between these three sweet sisters just made my heart beam.

Alicia and Katie braved the wind and were all hugs the whole time.

Just look at these blue beauties

This is my favorite sequence of the day! The girls had such a blast showing me each their favorite part of the jungle gym.

The girls changed into some fun Easter dresses. And they were so excited to show them off!

Thank you Tami, Alicia, Katie and Emma for such a fun time at the park. Happy Birthday Greg!!!

04.30.08 -Aly + Casey = engaged!
I first met Aly and Casey shortly after Dayle and I moved in to our new home. Aly, an avid outrigger, met and fell in love with Casey, an all around active outdoor guy, at an annual Halloween costume party. Learning that, I knew we were destine to be great friends. Knowing the two of them has brought so much joy to my life… I’m smiling just thinking about it! So when I heard that they were engaged I just couldn’t have been more happier for them. We made plans to shoot their engagement session causal, and outdoors in Laguna Beach. Causal and outdoors totally sums up their style!
So we hit the beach… with pretty much everyone else in Southern California. The whole time laughing and chatting away. So awesome. One of my favorite sessions yet! I’d have to say the best part of the day was catching Casey looking at his love with so much adoration. Aly would giggle, smile or just be her gorgeous self and Casey’s would look over at her and his whole face would light up with his love for her. I just cherish these moments.

Found a sweet brick wall. Oh so fun for my eyes!

Such a sweet moment

This makes me smile!

Aly found a sweet gelato parlor right after this… yum!

My favorite shots of the day.

Thank you Aly and Casey for such a speculator day. You guys are the best. We wish you both much love and blessing throughout your marriage!!

04.22.08 -5 rules + 6 quirks = I’ve been tagged!!
I was tagged by the fun-tastic duo Amy & Aaron from AHS Photography
Here are the rules:
1. Link the person who tagged you.
2. Mention the rules in you blog.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 following blogger by linking them.
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged.
Ryel’s quirks that make her oh so adorable
1. I’m all about organization. Let me first start off by saying I love shoes! Now this might not seem like a “off the wall” kinda remark. Coming from a girl no less. But coming from a girl who used to only wear one sweet pair of Rainbow leather sandals, (year round, through wind, rain and in the snow even. Which means I traveled to places where it snows, and yes I gotta a lot of funny looks.) This is straight up crazy talk! It’s not like I gave the boot to my “worn their so soft” rainbow sandals. The boots are mine too! It’s just that me and the rainbows don’t spend as much time together as we used to. But the quirkiness of mine comes into play with housing my strappy, colorful, toe showing, heal clacking beauties. See when I buy shoes I keep the box that they came in. Then I take a Polaroid ”head shot” of the new beauty. Stick it double-sided tap to the side of the box that shows the color and name of the shoe (yes even though there is a picture). And then I arrange them all by shoe color and box size. At one point I thought of contact papering the boxes so that they were all the same color, because it kinda bothers me that they aren’t. Now if you’ve read this far… you think Quirky was not the word to explain this habit o’ mine. In my defense I used to be much worse. I once single handedly organized my parent’s pantry contents according to alpha, numeric and color. It was a day’s event. Then my Dad sat me down and together we watched “sleeping with the enemy“. Afterwards he kindly explained that I was living out the husband character and needed to Chill Out before I blew a gasket because the tomato soup can was before chicken noodle.
2. I love the smell of pipe tobacco and cigars. I’m not a fan of smoking myself. And this might sounds contradicting , but it’s not, I don’t like cigarets or the smell of cigarets. Getting a whiff of loose leaf pipe tobacco reminds me of my Papi. When I was growing up he would sit in a so big it swallows you whole leather chair slowly smoking his pipe and rhythmically nod his head to nothing at all. Or Walking into a smoke shop with the intermixing smells of cedar and rolled cigars brings me immediately to seeing my Dad sitting on the porch laughing, celebrating and sharing stories! My Dad would only bring out cigars when there was something he was celebrating. I think thats why I get a big smile when I smell pipe tobacco or cigars. I remember all the moments we celebrated as a family.
3. I have a horrible sense of direction. I openly admit it (and here’s your fair warning!!) and at the same time I’m certain and often very convincing that “I know” how to get you or me anywhere! The proof is in the fact that my mechanic says I have “an unusual wear on the tread of my tires.” I’m sure it’s from U turn upon U turn I’ve made on any given trip. This last Christmas my wonderful husband got me a navigation system!! My friends and family are very appreciative.
4. “You always turn right!” Is Dayle’s response to my question “how did you find me?” on one of his re-con trips to locate me after I knew where I was going, but some how got lost. Re-read #3. Navigation system or not, don’t ask me to give you directions!! This is a quirk I didn’t even know I have until I met my husband, then boyfriend four years ago, and he so eloquently pointed it out. For reals on the pointing… and there was laughing involved. It’s like I’m related to Derek Zoolander. I’ve practiced making lefts. Dayles even coached me… he’s a lefty by birth. Easier for them! But when the fear and realization that I don’t know where I am kicks in. I freak! Try to retrace… but just keep turning right. It’s a vicious circle. Literally. Usually this quirk commences with a phone call, “I don’t know where I am… there’s a blinking light and I can hear water.” And with those kinda descriptions, ut hum I mean directions, Dayle still finds me! He’s that good.
5. I blow my cheeks out. I like to refer to it as “stretching my cheeks”. Like a kid pretending she’s blow fish. Expect I’m not a kid anymore. And I think I just admitted to pretending?!? You can find me partaking in this quirk on road trips and waiting in lines. Thank God for twitter! Now I have something to do that looks important. I mean… I thought stretching was important for every part of the body. Gotta stay limber yo! But twittering to let people know that I’m standing in line is way cooler.
6. If and when you get me laughing real hard… yes I snort. But it’s a little cute snort. I promise! Not the Miss Piggy snort. Nothing against MP. Or the, “I think you just had a brain aneurysm” snort. Its a aww, “I can’t believe I just snorted” followed by happy tears and more laughing. What else is it going to be followed by? I can’t believe I snort! But that’s what makes me oh so adorable.
Here’s my Dad and brothers celebrating Mom’s golden 50th birthday party.

Caught on film… yours truly “stretching” my cheeks on a road trip into Yosemite.

04.10.08 -Josh + Angelica = so much love
I am so excited to post about this couple! Not only are my great friends Josh and Angelica super stylish and a combined music manifesto of greatness, they are two peas in a pod. And so in love! Being around them you can’t help but be educated on interesting facts about Tom Waits. Unveil the differences between a jug and an arete. Climbing terms people. Or discover with enough “Josh and Angelica time” you too can display a talent for timing and wit.
And Josh and Angelica time is what I had. We hit the town in search of buttery light and romantic settings. Josh was dying to get a “kiss” shot of his love and him. I believe we succeeded.

I liked how the grass acted as a veil over the two of them.

We came across this “sweet texture for my eyes” of a door, when a bubble bee flew in to see what we were up to. I absolutely love the juxtaposition of their reactions!

ahh success!

This is my favorite shot

We headed over to a field in perfect spring bloom!

My fascination with shoe shots will continue…

Josh and Angelica thank you for such an amazingly creative day! I am so happy to know you and to capture the love between the two of you.

04.06.08 -Triathlon… check!
One of the many things that so attracted me to my amazing husband is that he is so intense about outdoor fitness. Not just the “I run the track” fit but the “I climb 100 ft rock faces” or the “I just finished a 24 mile canyon mountain bike ride before 10 am” fit. I thought I was active… but meeting Dayle I quickly look like a couch potato. Ever since we met, he’s wanted to complete a triathlon. Back in January Dayle signed up with Team in Training to complete an endurance race in honor of Robbie Shinn. Another amazing young man and a dear family friend who lost his battle with lymphoma in November ‘07. Dayle’s endurance race: Wildflower triathlon. He’s been training day in and day out. Learning so much about this sport and loving every moment.
On a whim Dayle decided to enter the renegade triathlon, even though Wildflower was just three weeks away. Dayle entered and he conquered! Placing 7th in his division and in the top 1/3 over all!!! Not bad for your first tri? (Um… if you can’t tell I am totally the bragger in this family.) I am constantly impressed with his mental and physical strengths. Here are some highlights from his 1/2 mile open water swim, 15 mile off road bike and 3.2 mile trail run.

I’m so proud of you babe!!!!
